When you think of the last name Gordon in auto racing, some think of a four-time Sprint Cup champion named Jeff. Others may think of an aggressive driver who has been known to race anything on four wheels named Robby. Well let me introduce you to another Gordon.

Golden horseshoe or not Jimmie Johnson has officially been dethroned as the favorite to win the championship in 2010.
On Sunday in the Brickyard 400 Johnson started from the outside pole position, and led a lap early in the event. However things nose-dived from there for the 48 team.
NSCS Jamie McMurray Joins Elite Group by Winning the Brickyard 400
Jamie McMurray added his name to the NASCAR record books today by winning the Brickyard 400. He previously won the Daytona 500 in February. Only 2 other drivers had accomplished both in the same year, Dale Jarrett in 1996 and Jimmie Johnson in 2006.

The Lifelock.com 400 at Chicago started off very dull, and looked to be a snoozer. However things changed around quickly when the sun went down. Several of the point leaders had extremely rough nights, and we ended the night with an unlikely winner.

A quick look at the box score would show you that Kevin Harvick started first and led the most laps en route to his second victory of the season, but that doesn’t tell you anything about how he got there.
NSCS: Jimmie Accepts Ambrose’s Gift For First Career Road Win
The golden horseshoe is back, and everyone is in trouble yet again. Jimmie Johnson had the dominant car Sunday at Infineon Raceway by leading 54 of the 110 laps, but late in the event Marcos Ambrose had the four-time champion covered.
During a late caution however Ambrose came to a stop while trying to save gas. As a result Johnson and five others got by Ambrose. Ambrose got the car fired back up, and sped back to his position up front, but he wouldn’t stay there.
NSCS: King Of The Road? Kahne Captures Infineon Pole
Through his first ten road course starts of his career Kasey Kahne looked just to survive to race another day. He was never a threat, and in fact never finished inside the top-ten at a road course race. However in last season at this very race at Infineon Raceway Kahne changed his road racing luck.
Kahne will look to defend his title of king of the road from last season from the pole position in Sunday’s Toyota / Save Mart 350.

He’s past his prime. He doesn’t have a chance. Those are usually some of the things people say about 46-year old aspiring race car drivers, but Matt Poole of North Carolina is proudly fighting against the odds, and he’s winning.
NSCS: Unstoppable? Hamlin Dominates For Fifth Win Of ’10
It’s becoming a recurring theme with each passing week, Denny Hamlin led the most laps Sunday en route to victory at the Helluva Good 400 at Michigan. The only time it even appeared that Hamlin might not win the race was directly after a green flag pitstop where his car hiccuped when there was an air bubble in his fuel line.

Memorial Day weekend. A time to sit back and thank our military for the ultimate sacrifice, their lives for our freedoms and liberties. It’s also a day full of racing action.
NASCAR has always been a huge supporter of the military and Charlotte Motor Speedway has always done a great job with showcasing what the military does for us as well as in remembering those who have fallen. Today was no different.
