Fantasy Rules
Since NASCAR has decided to go with this new playoff system, we have decided that we are going to have our own new system. Our System contains a few spoilers while we contend that it truly rewards consistency and performance over the entire year, vs. this playoff system. You can use these rules to form your own Fantasy League. We do not open our league up to the public. The highlights are as follows:
- Points are first based on Qualifying Results and then on Race Finishing.
- There will be bonus points added for special achievements.
- Qualifying, race results, and bonus points achievements are obtained from NASCAR.COM as the official stats source.
Selection Rules
- 1. For those submitting a proxy, the president will be their representative with the rules committee chairman, as witness.
- 2. Among last year’s participants, the player who finished highest will state whether or not he or she will keep the driver picked last year. The second highest finisher will then state their intention and then so on until the last place finisher makes their intention known.
- 3. Those submitting a proxy will have their intention noted on the proxy and announced when their turn comes up.
- 4. After prior year participant’s intentions are known, the last place finisher from last year’s pool will go first to select their pick for this year. The second lowest finisher will select next and then soon in this order until the player who finished first in last year’s pool picks last.
- 5. Those players from last year’s pool submitting a proxy will have their selection noted on the proxy and announced when their turn comes up. If their first choice is not available, then their second choice will be announced at that time. If second choice is not available, then an attempt will be made to contact them by phone before the next person makes their selection. If the person submitting the proxy is not available by phone at that time, then they will forfeit their selection pick at that time. That person will be notified via email on Sunday before the first race, that their pick was not available and will have to contact me no later than the Wednesday before the first race, to notify me of their pick chosen from the remaining available drivers.
- 6. New participants this year will have to pick after all of last year’s participants (including those submitting a proxy selection) have made their picks. New participants will be asked to draw a number from a hat to see who will get to go first among the new participants.
- 7. New participants will then select their driver from the remaining available drivers.
- 8. All participants will receive via email the selection roster by the Sunday before the first race of the season. Those submitting a proxy whose first and second driver were not available during the selection meeting will be able to determine who to select from the remaining available drivers
Qualifying Points
- 1. Points will be based on a 50 point scale with the pole winner receiving 50 points and the second place 49 points, etc. all the way down the line.
- 2. There are approximately 7 provisional starts per race. These positions are rewarded 0 points. If your driver has to take a provisional, they will be rewared with 0 (zero) points for qualifying.
- 3. These points are based on true QUALIFYING, not STARTING position. (This does NOT include if your driver had to start at the back of the pack due to engine replacement or wreck during practice sessions, these will be based on where the driver actually qualified).
- 4. These points are obtained from NASCAR.com and are their posted results from qualifying.
Racing Points
- 1. Points will be based on a 100 point scale with the race winner receiving 100 points and the second place finisher with 98 points, etc., all the way down the line. There are two point intervals between drivers.
- 2. These points are obtained from NASCAR.com and are their posted results from the race finish order.
Bonus Points
- 1. There will be NO POINTS awarded for leading a lap. (We decided not to give points to leading a lap because we feel that it is not an achievement or true strategy that names the best driver, instead, there are too many instances where that is due to pure luck and bad cars vs. good pit strategy and best drivers).
- 2. There will be 4 points awarded to the driver who led the most laps during the race. (We feel that if you led the most laps you need to be rewarded for an overall good racing day and you deserve to gain status vs. happening into a lap led).
- 3. If your driver QUALIFIED in the bottom five and finishes in the top five, your driver will be awarded with 25 bonus points. (This does NOT include if your driver had to start at the back of the pack due to engine replacement or wreck during practice sessions, these will be based on where the driver actually qualified).
Tie Breaker
In the event of a tie, the following rules will be in place.
- 1. Number of wins takes precedence.
- 2. If the number of wins are equal, then highest number of poles takes precedence.
- 3. If neither of the above is applicable, then the highest average finish over season will win.
- 4. If that doesen’t do it, then you split the pot (monenary value).
