MENCS: Ryan Blaney Earns First Pole of Season at LVMS

Ryan Blaney earned his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Pole Award for 2018 as he led the way around Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday in knock-out qualifying. This is Blaney third career pole with the other two coming last season at Kansas and ISM Raceway.

Blaney’s lap of 28.200 at 191.489 edged last weekend race winner, Kevin Harvick. Harvick has an average starting position of 19.6, one of his worst on the circuit, but does have a win at Las Vegas that came back in 2015.

Kurt Busch will start third while the defending race winner, Martin Truex Jr., will start fourth. Kyle Larson will start fifth.
