TBT: Greg Biffle Wins 3 Races in a Row at Homestead-Miami Speedway

on

For this week’s Throwback Thursday, its a trip down memory lane to when former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Greg Biffle won three races in a row at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway.

From 2004 to 2006 Biffle was a solid pick to win the Cup Series race when the series headed to Homestead-Miami for the season finale.

For three-consecutive years the then driver of the No. 16 Ford for Roush Fenway Racing found himself in victory lane. Biffle is the only driver to ever win three in a row at the track a record he still holds to this day.

Biffle’s third win at the track came on November 19, 2006 after the driver started in the 22nd position.

At the time Biffle held off a hard charging Martin Truex, Jr. and Kasey Kahne on a Green-White-Checkered finish to earn his second win of the season and the 11th of his career.

“I tell you what. My Ford Fusion was something else this weekend. I was nervous as can be. I was just scared to death that I wasn’t going to be able to hold those guys off. I was really nervous about the 1 and being able to hold him off. But I was excited that we were able to,” Biffle said.

Biffle hasn’t competed in the MENCS since Homestead-Miami Speedway last season a race where he finished in the 17th position. However, it will remain a track where the driver had great success with his 3 wins, 4 top-5’s and 5 top-10 finishes from 2002-2016.

Noted: While they weren’t consecutive wins, Tony Stewart is the only other driver to have three wins at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Stewart’s wins came in 1999, 2000 and 2011 respectively.
