NCWTS: Robby Lyons Finishes 12th in Truck Debut

Robby Lyons; While it may not be a name you know all that well at the moment, it’s sure to be one that’s going to stick around the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

28-year old Lyons made his NCWTS debut on Friday night in the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix Raceway in the No. 49 Chevy Silverado for Premium Motorsports with sponsors BarStool49ers and Sunwest Construction on board.

A debut where he went on to finish in the 12th position after starting 20th.

Before he made his debut, Lyons said, “I think the goal for any driver making their debut, especially on a national stage like the Camping World Truck Series, is to make a statement and show that you belong there. I’ve not been behind the wheel as long as a lot of these guys have, but I feel like my biggest asset is that I’m easily instructed, and I listen well.”

Lyons took to his Twitter account on Saturday very pleased with his debut.

Lyons began his racing career at the age of five on a dirt bike which was purchase by his father. After eighteen years of racing on two wheels, and earning multiple championships, Lyon’s decided to turn to other forms of racing.

The Florida native became unstoppable in Legend Car competition through out the United States as he went on to earn 16 wins, 22 top five’s, and 30 top 10’s in only 30 starts to go along with 3 championships during the 2014 season.

Lyons also went on to compete most recently in the CARS Super Late Model Tour.

Lyons will look to carry his momentum from Phoenix onto Homestead-Miami Speedway where he has been approved by NASCAR to race in the season finale Ford EcoBoost 200 where he will also drive for Premium Motorsports.
