MENCS: Who’s In, Who’s Out of the 2017 Cup Playoffs?


DOVER, Del. –  Four people were locked into the Round of 12 for the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs before the green flag dropped in the Apache Warrior 400 at Dover International Speedway. Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch each won in the first two races of the Playoffs while Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski moved on due to points.

When the checkers flew Sunday at Dover, Busch won his second race in the Round of 16, and four drivers titles hopes were gone.

Kurt Busch, Austin Dillon, Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman had heart ache as they were the four drivers that didn’t move on in the playoffs.

Twelve drivers will now onto the Round of 12 with races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Oct. 8), Talladega Superspeedway (Oct. 15) and Kansas Speedway (Oct. 22).

The points will now be reset with the original playoff points from the regular season added as well as playoff points earned in the Round of 16.
