MENCS: Kyle Larson Tops Practice at NHMS

Kyle Larson, who lost the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points lead earlier this week due to a fraction following Kentucky, paced the only practice Friday for NASCAR’s premier series. Larson’s lap of time of 28.430 at 133.971 MPH edge the current points leader, Martin Truex, by .161 seconds, at 28.591 and 133.217 MPH ahead of the Overton’s 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Kyle Busch, last weekends Coors Light Pole winner was third fastest while Ryan Blaney and Jamie McMurray, Larson’s Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, rounded out the fast five.

Looking for a strong finish this weekend, Kasey Kahne was sixth quickest, while Erik Jones was night. Jones was named the driver of the Joe Gibbs Racing NO. 20 in 2018 as the driver he replaces, Matt Kenseth, was eights quickest.
