NCWTS: Chase Elliott Starts the Weekend Out Front

It was only a one in sixteen shot, but nonetheless a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular has nabbed the pole from NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regulars.

Chase Elliott was the fastest after three rounds of qualifying for the Alpha Energy Solutions 250. To claim the pole Elliott bested teammate Johnny Sauter by three thousandths of a second.

Elliott is now batting .250 for poles in the NCWTS, thats a good ratio in baseball but in NASCAR that’s flat domination. Personally, I’m looking at this weekend a bit like Kyle Larson’s last week. Elliott is sitting poised to take a victory Saturday which could set him up for a great Sunday.

There’s a second Chase in the field, going by the name of Chase Briscoe. He’s good, really good. Keep your eye on this kid, in Brad Keselowski Racing equipment he could show up in force. Starting eighth Briscoe is the highest starting rookie, he narrowly beat rookie Noah Gragson. That could produce a beautiful Kyle Busch Motorsports and BKR battle.
