TUSCC: Chevrolet Sports Car Classic Entry List for Belle Isle

This coming weekend at Belle Isle, TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will feature a 25-car grid for the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers. You may be asking yourself – wait TUSCC has a bigger grid than 25 cars – and you would be correct. Missing from the weekend line-up is the entire GTLM class, as they are testing this weekend for the 24 Hours of Le Mans , and the DeltaWing from Prototype class.

An interesting storyline leading into the Belle Isle race is within the Prototype class, as there are four different winners so far after four races in the 2015 season. With wins from the #02 Chip Ganassi Racing in Daytona, #5 Action Express Racing in Sebring, #10 Wayne Taylor Racing in Long Beach, and most recently the #90 Racing in Laguna Seca, that leaves only four other Prototype class cars in the hunt for a win. The action should be fierce as #31 Action Express Racing, #60 Michael Shank Racing, and the #07 and #70 of Mazda Motorsports vie for a win in Belle Isle.

Action Express is hoping for some hometown magic at Belle Isle. “We had a Corvette Podium sweep at Sebring this year, snapping the 60 year winless drought for Chevrolet in the Twelve Hours and hopefully we will have a podium sweep here in Detroit. This race wouldn’t be possible without our partners at Chevrolet and their continued improvement efforts on the facilities at Belle Isle,” said driver Joao Barbosa.

The Prototype Challenge grid remains fairly the same, with the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports team hoping to capture a third win of the season. Watch #11 RSR Racing to seek a second win of the 2015 season as the PC class have seven more events to close out the season.

The GT Daytona class has an equally interesting storyline to the Prototype class as there are three different winners so far after three races. Winners include #93 Riley Motorsports in Daytona, #23 Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing in Sebring, and most recently #73 Park Place Motorsports in Laguna Seca. With ten total entries for the GTD class, these drivers and teams have their work cut out for them.

TUDOR United SportsCar Championship practices and qualifying begin on Friday May 29, with the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers race on Saturday May 30 starting at 12:05pm Eastern Time.
