NCATS: 2015 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Season Preview – Erica Thiering

on

After running a partial schedule last year, Erica Thiering has partnered up with Canada’s Best Race Team to run the full NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule in 2015.

“I’m really excited to be apart of this NASCAR series, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series,” she said. “It’s a great series to be in, and I hope to have some success with Canada’s Best Racing Team. We’ve seen some good goals to make stuff happen.”

Looking Back at 2014

The five-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Alberta Champion made her debut last season at Autodrome Chaudiere, scoring a solid 13th place finish. She then made four more starts over the season, getting strong with each race for a best career finish of eighth at Barrie Speedway.

Looking Ahead to 2015

The new season brings a new challenge for Thiering. She has yet to tackle any road course racing yet in her career, which is something that takes up a good half of the series schedule. She will have good teammates around her – Joey McColm and Kevin Poitras to teach her, along with good equipment. If she can adapt quickly to turning both left and right, she may surprise people this season.

With each start on the ovals last year, she continued to get stronger as noted with her finishes. Now apart of one of the premiere teams in the series, it’d be no surprise if she was able to crack the top-five this season. If there’s anywhere she’ll be able to do it, it has to be at Edmonton International Raceway with all the experience from late model competition.

Early expectations have pinned Thiering as being a driver that will finish just outside the top-five on a weekly basis. However, with strong equipment and growth as a driver, she may surprise a couple people with some strong runs over the course of the season.
