TUCC: Corvette Racing and Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing Take Class Victories

With only a few incidents at the 63rd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, GTLM class No. 3 Corvette Racing C7.R team of Ryan Briscoe, Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen consistently ran in the top 5 and conserved fuel to take the top spot, again proving they are the team to beat. From the drop of the green, this team orchestrated an amazing prowess to outlast until the end posting the class win.

Coming in second would be the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia with drivers Giancarlo Fisichella, Andrea Bertolini and Pierre Kaffer, who had to stop for a splash of fuel to end any chance of running down the No. 3 Corvette. They’d be followed by the No.17 Team Falken Tire Porsche 911 RSR with teammates Bryan Sellers, Wolf Henzler and Patrick Long. While this finish for GTLM seems similar to practice and qualifying sessions, the slicing and dicing of race teams within the GTLM class was quite spirited. The Porsche North America Cars, No. 911 & No. 912 consistently dominated the majority of the race, along with the No. 17 Team Falken.

The top finishers for GTD were No.23 Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing, followed by No. 007 TRG-AMR/Aston Martin Vantage teammates Ian James, Mario Farnbacher and Alex Riberas in the WeatherTech Porsche 911 GT America. The last ten minutes was one heartache after another. While leading, the No. 23 Porsche, Mario Farnbacher was driving the car with fading brakes, locked up and slid into the gravel, surrendering the lead to No.33 Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper SRT. This lead would only last a few laps as the Viper SRT had to retire due engine failure caused by overheating. This then gave the lead back to the No.23 Porsche.
