on

Leading the GTLM and GTD classes for the 63rd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, GTLM No. 912 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR driver Frederic Makowiecki and GTD No. 33 Riley Motorsports TI Automotive Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R driver Jeroen Bleekemolen posted some blistering times in qualifying. How did they get there compared to the final practice results?

In practice session four, quickest for the GTLM class was the No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR, which ended up being second quickest overall for the GTLM class posting 1:59.023. Not bad for the Porsche North America stable. Not to be outdone, the No. 912 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR posted 1:58.587 to place the team 1st in GTLM and 19th overall for the endurance race.

For the GTD class, Porsche looked to be the machine to beat. In practice session four, No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT America looked quick 2:03.478. That beat the one time practice session of 2:03.455 posted by Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing on Thursday March 19.

Interesting to note for the GTLM and GTD classes:

In the GTLM class, Frederic Makowiecki extended a streak of 13 different drivers to take the pole in 13 races dating back to qualifying for the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, driving the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR to the pole.

For the first time in TUDOR United SportsCar Championship races dating back to July 2014, someone other than James Davison will start from the pole in the GTD class.

Rounding out qualifying positions for the GTLM and GTD classes, the GTLM No. 3 Corvette Racing driver Antonio Garcia, GTLM No. 25 BMW RLL IHG Rewards BMW Z4 driver Dirk Werner, and No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari F458 Italia driver Pierre Kaffer made it four manufacturers in the top five positions. Of the top seven cars, only 0.9 seconds separated the positions.

Race day coverage begins on Saturday March 21 on FOXSports1 at 10:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m., then switches to FOXSports2 at 12:30pm through 7:00 p.m., then IMSA.TV from 7:00 p.m. through 10:00 p.m., and then back to FOXSports2 from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (all times eastern).
