NASCAR Announces Penalties Following Watkins Glen


DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — NASCAR announced on Wednesday morning two penalties in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series following Watkins Glen; as well as a penalty in the Camping World Truck Series

The first of which was issued to the No. 4 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for a P3 level infraction. Harvick’s car was found with unapproved added weight or a weight affixed improperly. As a result, crew chief Rodney Childers has been fined $25,000.

The No. 98 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has been issued a warning. They violated section 20-16.6 for adding or removing fuel inside the garage. Teams must add or remove fuel while the car is sitting outside. The team will not be fined.

In the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, crew member Troy Cupples, has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR. Cupples was found to have violated the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy. The violation was discovered on Aug. 11.
