NCWTS: Townley to Sit Out Michigan

on

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — John Wes Townley announced Tuesday that he will sit out of his No. 05 truck this weekend at the Michigan International Speedway. Townley got into a crash nearly two weekends ago at the Pocono Raceway during ARCA qualifying.

Travis Kvapil, who captured the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship in 2003, has been selected to drive the No. 05 Toyota this weekend. Townley hopes to be back behind the wheel next Wednesday at the Bristol Motor Speedway — and said it has been very difficult for him to watch somebody else drive his truck.

Kvapil has four total starts at the 2.0-mile Michigan International Speedway in the truck Series. Of those four starts, he has two wins, three top-five and four top-10 finishes. He goes into the event with an average finish of 3.0.

Clint Bowyer served as the replacement driver at the Pocono Raceway. Bowyer took the No. 05 Zaxby’s Toyota to a fourth-place finishing position. He started the event from the 10th starting spot.
