In the first practice for the Kobalt Tools 400, Roush Fenway Racing dominated the top spots. Four of the top five spots went to RFR, claiming first, second, fourth and fifth with Matt Kenseth, David Ragan, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle, respectively. The only non-RFR driver in the top five was Juan Pablo Montoya (third).

The rest of the top 10 were Marcos Ambrose, Tony Stewart, Regan Smith, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano.

All 44 cars on the entry list practiced. Last week’s only driver to DNQ, Brian Keselowski, was the slowest.

Casey Mears was the only driver to make 10 consecutive laps, running them on laps seven to 16 with an average speed of 178.603 mph.

With the new qualifying procedure, Kenseth will be the last of the top 35 to qualify. Tony Raines will go first.

The go-or-go-homers are: Brian Keselowski, Michael McDowell, Bill Elliot, Landon Cassill, Dave Blaney, Joe Nemechek, JJ Yeley, Mike Skinner and Casey Mears.

Qualifying is today at 3:40 PM (PT / 6:40 PM (ET).
