This past weekend in Charlotte Kasey Kahne left the track after his car was damaged in an incident on lap 123. Following the crash Kahne was reportedly “sick”, but comments the following day from Kahne suggested he may have been more upset about his equipment.

Well Wednesday evening news broke that a move had been made for the No. 9 car, and that move was that Kasey Kahne was no longer the driver of the Budweiser Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports.

Kahne, who was scheduled to move to Red Bull Racing for the 2011 season while waiting for his full-time move to Hendrick Motorsports in 2012, will get a head start on his relationship with his new team.

Kahne will effective immediately drive the No. 83 Red Bull Toyota, while Aric Almirola will take over the No. 9 car this week in Martinsville.

No word yet on if Almirola will be the replacement for the remainder of the season, but remember Marcos Ambrose was very open to moving to the No. 9 team before the end of the season if JTG Daugherty Racing wanted to bring Bobby Labonte in to get a head start on their 2011 pairing.
