Newman Says Not So Fast…

Pennsylvania 500 Practice

We posted yesterday that Ryan Newman had reached a verbal agreement with Stewart-Haas Racing, but he and his wife say not so fast….

They have issued a press statement saying that they are in discussions with Stewart-Haas and others regarding Newman’s future in 2009. I think they would be silly or stupid not to make this deal a reality.

Now I don’t claim to be the know-all, end-all, be-all of racing, but I really do feel that this would be a great fit for both Tony Stewart and for Newman. Stewart has committed himself to building a great team and we all know that they are friends, so this in my mind creates a perfect union.

Hopefully by next week we will be able to put this saga behind us, much like the world is waiting to put the Brett Farve situation in the rear-view mirror.
