Dale Jarrett following his dad’s footsteps…. again!
Dale Jarrett will be making his debut as a booth analyst this weekend at the Busch race in Texas. Overall, he is scheduled to make 10 Busch telecasts this year while still racing (when he can) in Nextel Cup races.
Dale’s dad, Ned Jarrett, a two-time NASCAR champion, was an analyst for ESPN from 1988-2000. Dale says that 2008 will be his last year of racing and that the experience this year as an analyst may interest him to pursue additional television opportunities after he gets out of the car.
I hope he does become a full-time analyst as I think he carries himself well in interviews and in the many humorous commercials he has done over the years for UPS and now NAPA with his boss Michael Waltrip. I always did like his dad as an analyst too and I am sure Ned can give Dale plenty of pointers if he hasn’t done so already by now.
