Car of Tomorrow Feature

We haven’t spoken much about the Car of Tomorrow (COT) here on RubbingsRacing.com yet, but since its debut at Bristol is around the corner, we thought it would be about time to give our input on it. Our own DJ had an opportunity to investigate into this recently at Talledega Motor Speedway.

talladegadrive.jpgAs you can see in this photo, DJ got to actually test drive the car and noticed massive safety features right off the bat.

First of all, look at how much lighter the car is with no doors. This is definately going to help the drivers make the determined weight without having to worry about their diet as much.

Second of all, no doors has additional benefits to NASCAR for safety. Without the doors, this creates much more drag on the car, therefore slowing down the overall speeds without the use of a restrictor plate. Think about how the drivers are going to love this!

Third, you will notice the easy access to safety crews being able to get into the car immediately in case of a crash or other altercation. This also makes getting out of the car so much easier than having to remove the net and then crawling out through that little tiny window.

Fourth, my gosh, it has to be so much safer than the cars NASCAR currently runs because if DJ can drive it without a suit, helmet or restraints, it must be safe.

And finally, if you look really closely at the front of the car, you will notice that to keep competition close, NASCAR now will mandate that there be no engine in the car, thus removing lbs. as well as making sure no particular car manufacturer has any type of advantage at all.

Thanks DJ for keeping us on top of the newest features on the COT. Great work as usual.
