Random Thoughts
(Reposted from original article from Bo)
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls and Children of All Ages, back from his two week tour of Arkansas, Tennessee and the great state of Alabama, it’s Bo with another rousing edition of Randall’s Random Thoughts. Enjoy…
Greetings, all. Not much on my mind this week, so I’ll just jump right in with a few thoughts and then I’m going to paste one of a series of articles by Jeff Alan about “The Good Ole Days of Racing”. Well written and humorous, his articles relate stories of some of racings colorful characters of the past. I’ll put one or two more of his articles up over the next few days. I don’t know much about the history of racing, but the more I learn, the more I want to know. The characters and stories of the early days are almost always entertaining and often leave you wondering how much is fact and how much is fiction.
I am all about Matt “Win”seth these days. Wow! I guess he’s just letting everyone know that he is prepared to defend his title and will be ready to win races in the “second” season. I won’t be surprised if he makes it three in a row this weekend. Meanwhile, “Revolving” Ryan should post another nice qualifying time later today and earn “us” some points. He is off to a much better start then last year, but I hope he can finish better then usual at Atlanta. (Best finish: 10th place) Remember Ryan, wheels work best when they are on the track and parallel to the wall!!
Up To 8 Stories Tall… 12,000 Watts Of Sound… 750 Horsepower… “NASCAR 3-D” opens up today in IMAX theatres across the country. It will be showing at the Mall of Georgia IMAX (678-482-5858). I hope to catch it at the Huntsville Space Center next week when I’m “working”. I look forward to hearing your reviews. NASCAR + IMAX, sounds like a perfect match. Crank it up!!
Have the higher-ups at Indy(IRL) been reading Chris’s columns? The traditional field of 33 starters in the Indianapolis 500 could be reduced, according to Tony George, president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, in a story written last week for the Indianapolis Star. “There have been races where I was uncomfortable with the quality of some of the cars, and they were there just for the sake of hitting some number.”
If you have access to today’s USA Today (or log on to their website), there is a good article answering some “pressing questions” going into Atlanta. One being: “Q: A recent media report said Dodge executives were considering marketing (Kasey) Kahne with ‘European Prada flair’. What is that, and how can I get it?” “A: Beats us, but Junior Johnson just spit out his moonshine.” That’s it for now. The article I mentioned follows and I may post another one in the next day or two.
Take care and enjoy the weekend.
