NASCAR has historically been associated with the South in its origins but in recent years have been expanding to other markets. For awhile there was talk about building a track in New Jersey. Not totally unheard of because there are tracks up north such as Pocono, PA and Watkins Glen, NY. Then of course there are the western tracks such as Las Vegas, California Speedway, and the road course at Sonoma, CA. Now there are talks about NASCAR scouting sites in Washington state and Oregon!

I can see it now, the Starbucks 400 in Seattle with a grunge band singing the national anthem. However, nobody will actually race there because it will be constantly rained out!
