Hello All!!! Once again, I just have some random thoughts to throw out there for anyone who cares. It has taken me all week to get past having to sit through a telecast starting with Lee Greenwood followed by 4 hours of having to listen to Benny Parsons asinine commentary. “Well, they ought to just flip the car over and pull him out…. that’d be the easiest way.” “Uh, BP, Michael’s car looks like it came out of that Star Wars compactor…they probably are checking on any possible injuries…”(OK, the last line wasn’t an actual quote, but it seems like I remember his colleagues saying something to the same effect. And has Disney made animatronics replicas of Lee Greenwood?!? I mean, I think he made appearances at Daytona, the NBA All-Star game, and SIX NHL games on the same day. (OK, I don’t know if he was anywhere besides Daytona…I’m just a little tired of Mr. Greenwood…But, I am PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN…I wouldn’t want to get big, fat Jimmy Spencer upset with me.)

Speaking of big, fat Jimmy Spencer and his somewhat racist comments this week…how does he not get fined by NASCAR? To those who didn’t hear, big fat Jimmy was asked for his thoughts on Toyota fielding a team in the truck series. His response, “I was raised with Chevrolet, Ford and Chrysler, so I don’t know. Those son’s of *censored*es bombed Pearl Harbor, don’t forget.” Absolute Genius, you big, fat redneck! Don’t worry about offending anyone. Do you really think some of those pilots that bombed PH may be working the pits? Maybe you can go over and punch a few of them like you did to Kurt Busch last year…that’ll show ‘em. Yaaaaa-hooooo!!!! By the way, Jimmy, how do you climb your 3-bills plus body into the window of one of those racecars?? Possibly, the eighth wonder of the world.

Sorry about the rant…back to random thoughts. -Glad to see Mags getting into the Rub last week and throwing a little smack around.

Nice article (Minor League…), Chris, props for including a reference to “The Great One” and Pele. Nicely written. And I agree with pieces of what you, DJ, and Knox all had to say about the big boys playing in the little league. No time now to go further…but maybe later in the week.

No Robbie, you can’t add Robby’s Busch points to your Nextel score.

As for the new scoring system (Nextel scoring), I wish the drivers would stop whining. (Several are starting to come around.) I also wish the sponsors would quit threatening to pull sponsorship after 26 races if their team isn’t in the top ten. Even in the last 10 races, the point still is to TRY AND WIN THE RACE!!! Your team and sponsor get both the money and the attention. Further more, NASCAR officials have found that no team has ever come back (in the last 10 races) to win the Championship from 11th place (or worse) or 400+ points back. As I see it, teams not in the hunt to win the championship should be ecstatic that they have the chance to win the money and the attention (for their team) in each of the last ten races.

Props to NASCAR for attempting to keep Nextel racing family friendly. They say they will no longer tolerate slips of the tongue (bad language) from their drivers in televised interviews. I agree. These athletes should be able to use appropriate language to express their thoughts in a family friendly way. Well, the race is about to start and the view of all of you in my rear view mirror is just the way I like it. Take care and I’ll look for you in Victory Lane (to congratulate me, of course)!!
